Giving back.
Recently, I received a text asking if I would participate in a fundraiser. A local retailer, Mainstream Boutique decided to organize a fundraiser called Fashion for Food. The idea was to help ECASD Prairie Ridge Learning School’s Fight Against Hunger. Their purpose is to provide an emergency Food Pantry and a Family Garden for those in need. Their motto: Full Tummies ♥ Ready Minds ♥ Happy Hearts. At first I wasn’t sure how kimbentley could participate other than promoting their event on social media, then the light bulb went off. Offering apparel and opening an online “shop” was always a small part of my original plan but to be honest I didn’t think it would happen for another six months or so. Then I realized that maybe this was a sign for kimbentley to take the next step and put one of our designs to work. So we took out the “idea file” and got busy. We decided to sell shirts with an original design and donate 100 % of the profits to the this cause. As the saying goes, when there’s a will there’s a way and it’s true. In approximately 10 days we placed an order for cute and comfy wide neck sweatshirts, finalized our design, had them printed locally, and we were ready to sell for charity; and boy did we. We set up our kimbentley display for the event which was held at Forage in Banbury and it didn’t take long for our sales table to look bare. Thanks to my sister who helped with sales and thanks to everyone who attended the event to support the cause! kimbentley was able to donate $700.00!!!!!
The event was a success. The staff at Mainstream Boutique had a brilliant idea when they decided to organize this event. The facility at Forage has a great vibe and I can’t tell you how hard they worked to prepare for this event. Kudos to all who donated silent auction items and last but not least, Mainstream Boutique and Feisty Fit came through with a fun fashion show to round out the night. Great things can grow from a seed of an idea and I can’t wait to see the family garden that sprouts from this one. It’s a pleasure to work with business women and businesses that have a heart. The total donated from the nights event was over $6,000.00.
