Hiking Gear 101

On June 9th I posted on  kimbentley about my first hiking experience in Yosemite’s National Park. In anticipation of my upcoming trip back to Yosemite, I thought it would be fun to introduce you to hiking gear. If you haven’t hiked before give it a try. It’s a great way to enjoy the local scenery and get some exercise at the same time. I usually train on stairs for major hikes with steep elevation but you can begin hiking any of the local trails we have in our area.

The VolumeOne publication Hot Spots has a list of local trails you can try and The Eau Claire Visitors Bureau also posted on their website about a few local trails that you may want to check out. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced hiker it can be a fun way to spend a day or a week exploring the great outdoors. You don’t need to climb major elevations to have fun and get fresh air but you may want to consider some of the gear we will discuss today if you’re going to attempt some of the longer hiking trails.
