The Struggle is Real
Today’s model is Ruth. She has lost over 175 pounds and 100 inches and she was a guest on one of our first segments about weight loss success stories. Since that segment, Ruth has continued her weight loss journey which has included some bumps in the road. Those bumps included gaining weight, sometimes losing faith, and dealing with excess skin resulting from losing a large amount of weight. Ruth’s weight gain was partly because of her smart decision to quit smoking. The decision to quit smoking can be difficult for many people because of the fear of gaining weight but Ruth knew quitting smoking would be another important step toward leading a healthier life. She gained almost 30 pounds while trying to quit but worked hard to take that weight off and she happily says she’s lost the weight and feels so much better being a non-smoker.

This is basically skin that was stretched from being overweight and does not “bounce back”. Since her surgery is not covered under insurance, Ruth is saving money and she is planning to lose another 15 pounds before her skin removal surgery. This surgery is considered major surgery so she has not made this decision lightly. It’s also expensive. Since insurance typically doesn’t cover this type of surgery Ruth has set up a go fund me page to help her take this next step. Her Go Fund Me Page is

Let’s Not Forget Her Fitness Fashion!
A HUGE thank you to Scheels, Eau Claire for helping fit Ruth with some new gear and donating the items to Ruth as part of the kimbentley Fitness Fashion Friday segment!
Leggings: We went with some fun leggings with a pattern which actually camouflage problems areas. The leggings we chose are made by lucy Activewear . They also have a higher waistband which actually acts as tummy control!
Top: The t-shirt type top by Champion was the perfect fit for Ruth. It has a short sleeve for coverage on her arms and skimmed her body perfectly.
Cardigan: We added a lightweight cover by lucy Activewear to wear to and from the gym. It’s so cute you can wear this piece with any outfit!
The Bra: Don’t forget a good bra! Breasts like other parts of the body and they change during weightloss. Ruth was amazed at the difference the Brooks bra made. Scheels has a sports bra experts that can professionally size you, our expert was Tina!
Here’s to finding your style, – Kim
