Your Workout Just May Be an Unexpected Highlight of Your Trip!

How do you keep up with your workouts while traveling? Planning and scheduling is key. If you plan ahead and add exercise to your daily itinerary you’re more likely to stay on track. On my recent trip to Thailand there were endless highlights but I have to admit because I planned to attend an early beach run organized by the resort at Centara Grand Beach Resort, Hua Hin, I experienced a highlight of the trip I may have otherwise missed.
A Scheduled Run
When I checked out the fitness centre at Centara I noticed a schedule of fitness activities they provided so I decided to sign up. One class was a scheduled group running program with Centara’s fitness center trainer Josip. Taking advantage of a resorts fitness activities definitely helps keep you on track and committing yourself to early morning classes will motivate you to get going so that you can enjoy the rest of your day exploring. In this case it allowed me to witness another beautiful beach sunrise with a unique surprise.
It’s not unusual to find many people running or walking the beach no matter what beach you find yourself traveling to. To my surprise local monks are also on their daily walks in the early morning hours on Hua Hin Beach. How cool is it to actually run the beach among monks? I’m personally fascinated by the rituals of monks so maybe it’s just me but that experience was one of many unexpected experiences during this trip that will stay with me forever. Secondly, I was fortunate to have Josip to myself for our run. We ran barefoot on the beach and hit it off so well I think we talked the entire time! Fun and exercise, a perfect combination.
Participating in group activities available at your resort or signing up for a trainer is a great way to meet others, be inspired by their fitness story, and keep up with your fitness routine. Josip and the group from Carpe Diem that work at the fitness center are typically from other parts of the world and work in the resorts in various capacities. Josip, worked in public relations, the fitness centre, and was the trainer for the running group as well as other classes. The fitness centre also offered exercise in the pool, beach mediation classes which I also took advantage of (Thanks, Natalia!), yogilates and more.
Keeping up with your fitness goals doesn’t have to interfere with your traveling experience. Keep your mind open to the fact that it just may enhance it!
