Jennifer’s Story
Our giveaway winner Jennifer is a runner. She told me that her initial attempt at running was simply trying to run around the block couple of times. Needless to say, she didn’t find it to be a fun experience so she didn’t pursue running as a form of exercise. Then, about three years ago a Mom’s on the Run flyer at her daughter’s school caught her attention. Without any real running experience Jennifer signed up and joined the running group. She admits she really didn’t enjoy running at first but she grew to like it. Her motivation was that she wanted to be healthy.
We all know that the most difficult part of beginning an workout program is “just starting”. I think it’s important to note that Jennifer signed up to take part in this group on her own. Most of us need to be encouraged in some way by a friend or a partner to become involved; Jennifer just signed up! Since joining the group she has enjoyed the camaraderie of many new friends and even ran Eau Claire’s Fall Back Blast Trail Run this year! Congratulations, Jennifer!
Why did Jennifer sign up for our Giveaway?
Jennifer runs with Mom’s on the Run regularly on Tuesdays at 5:45 am. This time of year that means it’s dark. She uses a headlamp to light up her way and keep her safe on her runs. She says she was in need of a new headlamp because the one she had been using was broken during a camping trip earlier this summer. Her daughter Lily, age 11, volunteered to mend it with “fashionable” penguin duct tape! I realize that duct tape has multiple uses but I’m glad she no longer needs to resort to using it to keep her headlamp working. (FYI, the Northbound Headlamp has a lifetime warranty! No duct tape-EVER:)
