Working Out and Staying Motivated. Meet Marathon Runner, Kim

Meet Kim, Our Northbound Train Hammock Winner!

“I work at CVTC and have two children and one granddaughter. I have been in Moms on the Run for the last two seasons (although I haven’t been consistent). I ran my first marathon this past June!!! I plan to run another next June as I now have a time to beat! I took up running as something to push me. I love the running world as no one cares how fast you are!”

When I met Kim, I quickly learned that she is very soft spoken about her accomplishments. She began running, and shortly after that she signed up for her first 1/2 marathon. Upon completion, she quickly decided her next race would be a full marathon. She began with determination and successfully finished her first full marathon even though an injury made it necessary for her to change her training strategy.  It’s no surprise she is already planning her next full marathon and another Trail Ragnar!

Kim’s Work Outs

Kim has participated in Moms on the Run, Cardio/Weight class at UWEC and she also does some workouts on her own at Planet Fitness. Her favorite workouts are with Moms on the Run and the Cardio/Weight Class. Kim also completed a Ragnar Trail Event this past year. Her first comment when seeing the Northbound Train Hammock was how great it was going to be for her team to relax in it during their next Ragnar Event!

What was Kim’s Work Out Motivation?

“I saw Moms’ on the Run on Moms Every Day WEAU13 News. I just decided I wanted to do something to get out of the house and be a part of a group.” Kim also commented that she does NOT like to workout. It’s just not her favorite thing to do so she keeps signing up for races, so she has to train! Many of us find that we need to have a goal to help motivate us and joining a group and registering for races gives you a support system and a goal to keep you motivated.
