The Winter White Coat and Jacket

January 18, 2021 by Kim Larsen Filed Under: Fashion, Lifestyle

Who doesn’t love the look of a winter white coat? I searched forever to find my favorite dress coat in winter white. I’ve had it for years and I don’t think it will ever go out of style. In other words; it was a good investment. As I was researching for this post, I found out that my coat is still available at J. Crew! I guess that’s proof that this style is timeless!

My Winter White Coat

There’s something about a white coat or jacket. I love it in a dress coat and in my everyday coat. My concern is always warmth but the white; come on, it’s so pretty! You can add your signature color scarf, hat, mittens, or gloves to it and immediately make it “your” style.

Winter Coat Body Styles

Longer length. When you live in Wisconsin you will appreciate a longer length coat. It keeps your rear and more of your legs warm! I’m only 5′ tall so I need to watch the length a bit so it doesn’t overpower me, but overall I can wear most regular size coats. The one I’m wearing from J. Crew actually comes in petite, regular, and tall sizes and it’s insulated!

winter white coatButtons and Zippers. Many coats will have both; especially your more hard-working coats. Dress coats will have either. I personally don’t have a preference. It depends on the coat style. If you’re short like me I would suggest a single-breasted version instead of a double-breasted jacket. The style is simpler and it will give you a slimmer look. For me, double-breasted jackets add more bulk than I want for my short frame.

Waistbands. My J. Crew dress coat pictured in this post has a band that runs high around the waist for a slim look. My down coat from North Face doesn’t have a waistband but it does have princess seams in the front. The vertical lines of the princess seaming will help slim as well.
