The big dilemma; what to do with your hair when you work out. Unless you’re running on your treadmill, alone, really by yourself, where no one can see you, well maybe your dog sees you, but you get the idea; unless you’re by yourself typically you want to look good. This includes when you’re working out even though you know you’re going to sweat. I think it’s possible to look good, keeping fit. And I firmly believe that if you look good you feel good. That’s the first step to becoming motivated to get out there and move. I think one of the biggest hurdles to looking good and feeling good while working out has to do with hair. We all know that how we feel can be directly related to how we feel about our hair. If we have a bad hair day, we have a bad day. Period.
Here are Six Ideas to Keep Your Hair on Track:
- My go to if I’m running is a hat. Just throw it on and you’re ready to run. If your hair is long enough to put it in a ponytail and throw on a hat. Easy. My favorite hat is by Under Armour.
- If you feel it’s too hot for a hat my other go to is a visor. Have a black one and a white one and your set. You may mess with the top of your hair if you have layers or just use a fixative to slick it back and go. My favorite Visor: Nike.
- Hairbands. They are everywhere. They keep your hair in place and they’re adorable. I don’t have a favorite at the moment. I still think I look odd in a hairband:)
- If you’re lucky and you look good with your hair pulled back and it’s all one length put it in a ponytail or a braid. Plus, braids are on trend. Favorite hair ties: Goody Slideproof.
- Buns. Messy buns, neat buns all kinds of buns. Easy to do and definitely on trend.
- Use a really good fixative. I realize that natural, soft hair is in but if your hair is like mine…. well let’s just say you should use a strong spray to keep it in place. I have two favorites: Kenra 25 and Alterna Hemp Volume Lock Hair Spray. I especially love Alterna Hemp spray when working out. Don’t expect anyone to run his or her fingers through your hair. You could be in a windstorm and your strands would stay put.
